The friend for whom I stitched the turquoise sea glass canvas in the spring, loved it so much she’s commissioned me to stitch another one in browns and golds to give as a present. Since there’s been a lot of mending and not much embroidery going on recently, I thought I’d share some in progress images.
I found some fantastic crinkled gold satin for the background and used mostly sea glass from my trip to Seaham in browns and yellows.
The fabric is very subtle, looking beige until the light hits it just right and you realise it’s golden.
I had some gorgeous thick soft variegated silk thread in exactly the right tones which I couched down around the nuggets of glass.
Next, layers of feather stitch in the Caron thread I’ve been using a lot recently for my rusted pieces.
And finally, I’ve started the beading. Random seed beads in shades of brown, gold and orange with highlights of green.
I’m hoping I can get the last of the beading finished this week.
