These are finished now and will become birthday cards. It felt very virtuous to use up some oddments of hand dyed perle and silk ribbon for the stems and leaves.
The thickness of the felt gives the flowers a pleasing solidity and three dimensionality as well.
I particularly like using ribbon stitch for simple leaves. It’s such a straightforward idea to go back and pierce the top of the ribbon to make the stitch but so very effective.
I notice I’m just playing around with oddments at the moment rather than getting on with anything more significant but after a very hectic year and in the middle of the usual Christmas madness, I think I’m just going to go with it and see what comes to hand next.
They will make lovely cards. It’s a good idea not to embark on something major at this time of the year with everything else that is going on.
They’re delightful!
they are really delicate and beautiful!
They’re lovely. I agree with Maggi – this is a good time of the year to just fiddle around, try some things you’ve been meaning to try and enjoy a slower pace.
They are just gorgeous. Somebody is going to have a very happy birthday!
These are absolutely delicious! So delicate & I’m amazed by the tiny leaves, being the rough & ready stitcher that I am 😉 A little too good for just cards in my humble opinion. To get the oddments of course, you have to have put the work in already.
Thanks for your comment, (no email comment in my inbox, sorry!?!) felting is wonderful, I shall try some more.
these are so pretty Alex. I love silk ribbon yet I never use it…I think after seeing this I may just have to buy some. ( I will tell my husbnad it’s your fault) I hope you have a magical Christmas….x
