I’m having a real drive to finish things and sort stuff out this year, especially as I need to make things to sell at the fair in July, and I had this on the go from…years ago.
It’s a little bag made from blue-black silk matka which has been embroidered with rainbow coloured bands of feather stitch in coton a broder and then beaded in the cup of each stitch with matching seed beads.
I’d finished the embroidery, stitched the bag up; even made the handle from a tube of cherry coloured silk, stuffed with beads and then tied after each bead.
It was so close to finishing that it seemed silly not to get on with it. I made a lining from the cherry coloured silk which I hand stitched in, attaching the beaded handle at the same time.
Then I found a fantastic sparkly vintage button for a closure which manages to echo most of the colours in the stitching all on its own.
Dark blue ribbon makes the loop for the closure. Blanket stitched down and finished with a vintage daisy trim to hide the messy bit.
All finished and packed away for the fair.
