Back to the fine detail work… This was going to be my entry for our Embroiderers’ Guild branch Christmas card competition.
I enjoyed finding some slightly antique Christmassy colours in silk and velvet and matching them with some fabulous Mulberry, Pearsalls and Kreinik silks and gold threads.
I spent the whole of a recent LTC committee meeting feather stitching down the raw edges and then doing the running stitch on the green velvet. The photo has confirmed what I suspected: that I don’t like it. The running stitch is too uneven and I don’t like the effect with the pile of the velvet so it will be coming out.
The feather stitching in Mulberry silk twist (either side) and Pearsall’s Marabou (middle) is much more to my liking.
The gap will be hidden beneath an origami fabric Christmas tree.
