When we visited my parents at Easter I was delighted to find a huge pile of rusting bits and pieces ouside the workshop and my Dad was quite bemused to find me picking select pieces out of the pile.
It was a treasure trove of everything from handmade Victorian nails to war-time tools to modern springs, washers, nuts and bolts.
I filled a tub. I could have filled a wheelbarrow!
The colours and textures of the surfaces are beautiful.
Then I went hunting for what I knew would be in the workshop – dust cloths made from butter soft old cotton sheets.
All wrapped up together, to my parents continued bemusement, soaked, left in the sun and…
I also used some of the green silk I used for the back of the 3rd allium piece. More to play with and I’ve got loads of ideas.
