Almost at the edge now.
Heavy, hairy dark grey boucle thread couched down.
Another eye-like spiral of chain stitch with more french knots.
Hopefully finished soon.
Update on the Bullion Knot Boy. As it was half term last week, it has been 2 weeks since I sewed with the Y6s. Five minutes into the lesson he mooched up to where I was working and I wasn’t surprised when he told me he had forgotten how to work the bullion knot.
I was trying to unpick a major tangle in someone else’s work and rather absently told him that I would show him again shortly. He returned less than five minutes later and flourished his sewing under my nose – complete with a newly worked from scratch bullion knot.
A moment or two later he returned with another, and then another. Then he got cocky and overlaid three in a triangle, which worked after a fashion, and finally ended up teaching the stitch (with some success) to two more boys in the class.
I made him my Pupil of the Week this week.

Great story – well done to your pupil of the week! – and you’re making good progress, too!
Thank for your kind words
Just been catching up here – love the pebble, such amazing detail. Beautiful holiday journal, too.
